Busy boat shop in East Bremerton is seeking a hard-working marine mechanic to join our team!
Title: Marine Technician
Direct Supervisor: Technical Manager & Business Manager
Hours: Full time. Nov-April: 8am-6pm Tues-Fri & 10am-3pm Sat. May-Oct: 9am-6pm Mon-Fri. Some Saturdays required, and more overtime possible. Closed some holidays. No vacation allowed between April & September. Schedule is subject to seasonal changes. Please note that Aqua Tech closes for 2-4 weeks each winter (starting around Dec 15).
Pay: Hourly + commission, amount depends on experience.

Uniform requirement:
Aqua Tech Marine Services T-shirt and hat (supplied by Aqua Tech).
Dark blue or black mechanics pants. Work boots with steel toes & oil resistance.
Must maintain clean, professional appearance.
Skills required:
Professional experience servicing outboard and/or stern drive engines on trailerable boats.
Proven repair efficiency; i.e. able to perform quality repairs near, at, or below flat rate time.
Certification by one or more marine engine manufacturer is preferred.
Mercury/MerCruiser technician education/certifications. If you do not currently have any of that, it must be attained as soon as possible while working at Aqua Tech – Aqua Tech will assist you in acquiring it by paying the course fees and providing access to the online and classroom courses that are required (outside of work hours).
Applicant MUST be able to cross border into Canada for our technical training classes (No DUIs, etc).
Forklift experience preferred, but can be taught if you do not currently have it.
Tools required:
Applicant MUST have all tools needed for marine engine repairs: hand tools, diagnostic tools (meters, compression & spark testers, etc.), personal safety equipment, power tools, air tools, tool cart, etc (this list can be discussed in more detail with us). Aqua Tech Marine Services provides special manufacturers’ tools, large equipment and expendables (greases, sanding discs, etc).
Duties:
Repair marine engines, mechanical & electrical systems as approved by customer. This includes reading, understanding and taking responsibility for entire customer repair order; diagnosing repairs needed; consulting with Technical Manager regarding plan of action; reading and understanding service manuals; research when applicable; parts removal and installation; labeling & organization of parts; looking up parts needed when applicable; writing complete notes; etc.
Rig and install new marine engines & accessories as approved by customer.
Perform repairs thoroughly, with accuracy and high quality.
Perform repairs in an organized, timely manner.
Perform repairs according to the guidelines of Aqua Tech Marine Services supervisors and the manufacturer.
Perform repairs with a high level of efficiency and productivity.
Write thorough notes on all actions performed on engines/systems.
Work independently, update supervisor on progress, and seek guidance when needed.
Continue learning how all systems/components/new equipment works, in order to continually improve skills.
Keep all work areas neat and organized.
Follow company procedures, as instructed by Technical Manager and Business Manager.
Move boats with forklift before & after jobs, when customers drop off and pick up boats, and other times as necessary.
Shop projects as required.
Regular cleaning of shop.
Assist other employees as necessary. Other tasks as necessary.
